The Amulet
Jan. 8th, 2012 09:02 pmAppearance: Currently, two snakes wound about each other, with a ruby nestled between their necks. (Originally a golden circlet, but they shifted its shape so that it wouldn't stand out so much.)
Original purpose: It's an immortality charm created by one of Gabrielle's nastier relatives; it captures a person's soul, using their lives as a near endless power source, anchoring their soul to their bodies while the spell heals their form.
The amulet was not, however, meant for a witch's soul. Gabrielle's caused her to over spill the amulet's boundaries, with the excess moving into Fredrick's body, sealing the amulet to him in the process.
Current: Over the centuries, Fredrick's soul has become inextricably entangled with Gabrielle's; this has given her more of a presence in his mind, allowing them to have full conversations - but also makes relief from their state a near impossibility. Besides the more supernatural effect, her presence has also, over time, altered his brain layout - it has shifted somewhat dramatically to adapt to the two minds present (not to mention the fact that one of those minds is female.)
